My Victus 16-s0xxx laptop's screen will randomly go blank after being left on. I'll come back from lunch and the screen is blank. The computer it still on, but the the screen won't come back on. Only thing I can do is hard reboot by pressing Power button until its off, then restart. This is a real pain as everytime I have to restart I have to re-open files I was working on. I've updated video drivers, turned off all hibernation settings. Anyone else have this issue??

Hi @CrumbyTadpole ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand your Victus 16-s0xxx laptop is experiencing a problem that could be related to the display settings, power management, or even an issue with the hardware. Since you've already updated the video drivers and disabled hibernation settings, let's try a few other troubleshooting steps:
1. Disable Display Sleep Settings
- Go to Settings > System > Power & sleep.
- Under "Screen," set the time for the screen to turn off to Never for both battery and plugged-in modes.
- Do the same under "Sleep" settings to prevent your computer from going to sleep.
2. Check for Windows Power Plan Settings
- Right-click on the Start button and select Power Options.
- Choose Additional power settings on the right side.
- Select your current power plan and click Change plan settings.
- Click Change advanced power settings and expand the Display section.
- Make sure Turn off display after is set to Never.
- Check Adaptive brightness and turn it off if enabled.
3. Turn Off Fast Startup
- Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what the power buttons do.
- Click on Change settings that are currently unavailable.
- Uncheck the Turn on fast startup (recommended) option and click Save changes.
4. Update BIOS and Chipset Drivers
Sometimes, an outdated BIOS or chipset driver can cause screen issues.
- Visit the HP Support website and look for the latest BIOS and chipset drivers for your specific model.
- Follow the instructions carefully to update them.
5. Check for External Devices
If you have any external monitors, USB hubs, or devices connected, try disconnecting them to see if they are causing the issue.
6. Run Hardware Diagnostics
- Restart your laptop and immediately press Esc repeatedly until the Startup Menu opens.
- Press F2 to open the System Diagnostics.
- Run the Display Test and System Test to check for any hardware issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
