I start having display issues in my HP Pavilion laptop (flickering), my first tough was change the screen but I connected the laptop to an external monitor and the image there is stable. I look for a solution and find that the video driver and the touchpad driver make conflict together. I update the drivers on both and they are up to date, but still have issues. Then I find another possible solution and uninstall the touchpad driver and the display become stable for one or two days but later start flickering again. I have to repeat the process of uninstall the touchpad driver again. If somebody have a best solution please help me out. Thanks

Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you’re experiencing a frustrating issue with your HP Pavilion laptop’s display. Since you’ve already tried updating and uninstalling the touchpad driver, here are some additional steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the flickering display issue:
1. Check Display Refresh Rate
- Right-click on the desktop and select Display settings.
- Scroll down and click on Advanced display settings.
- Ensure the refresh rate is set to the recommended rate for your display (usually 60 Hz).
2. Disable Hardware Acceleration
- Some applications use hardware acceleration, which can cause display issues. Try disabling it:
- For browsers (like Chrome), go to Settings > Advanced > System and toggle off Use hardware acceleration when available.
- Check other applications you frequently use for similar settings.
3. Reinstall Video Drivers
- Uninstall the current video drivers:
- Open Device Manager and expand Display adapters.
- Right-click on your video driver and select Uninstall device. Make sure to check Delete the driver software for this device if prompted.
- Restart your laptop. Windows should automatically reinstall the default video drivers. You can then check the manufacturer’s site for the latest drivers to install.
4. Check for Windows Updates
- Make sure your Windows operating system is fully updated. Sometimes, updates include fixes for driver issues.
5. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics
- Use HP's built-in hardware diagnostics to check for issues:
- Restart your laptop and press Esc repeatedly until the Startup Menu opens.
- Press F2 to select System Diagnostics and run tests related to the display.
6. Adjust Touchpad Settings
- If the flickering is associated with touchpad use, try adjusting the touchpad settings:
- Go to Settings > Devices > Touchpad and disable gestures or adjust sensitivity.
7. Test in Safe Mode
- Boot your laptop in Safe Mode to see if the flickering persists. If it doesn’t, this may indicate a software conflict.
- To access Safe Mode, press Shift + Restart on the login screen, then choose Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart and select Safe Mode.
8. Create a New User Profile
- Sometimes, user profile corruption can cause display issues. Create a new user profile and see if the problem persists there.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hi Rachel571,
Since I published the post I didn't experience the issue anymore but thanks for your comments. I had windows updates and probably one of the driver making conflicts had some upgrades. I hope never have display issues in the future.
Thanks again for your support.
Best regards
