Hi,

HP Omen 17 ck-1440nw

Windows 11

I have external display which was working fine for about 2 weeks.

Yesterday It stopped getting video signal via USB C port.

Tested on different laptop - It's OK.

Different display via USB C - also not working.

I did:

- CMOS reset

- BIOS / Tunderbolt drivers re-install

- Crtl+win+shift+B? (display driver reset)

Any ideas how to deal with it?

Hi @KarolSl,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused don’t worry let me help you.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

  1. Does the USB-C port work for charging or data transfer, or is it completely unresponsive?
  2. Are you using a Thunderbolt-certified cable or just a standard USB-C cable?
  3. Did the issue start after a Windows update, driver update, or BIOS update?
  4. Can you confirm the external display works on the same laptop via HDMI or DisplayPort?

Troubleshooting steps to try

1. Check Thunderbolt / USB-C security settings in BIOS

  • Enter BIOS (F10 at startup)
  • Look for Thunderbolt Security Level or USB-C / DisplayPort settings
  • Try setting the security to No Security / User Authorization and test again.

2. Reinstall graphics drivers

  • Go to Device Manager → Display adapters
  • Right-click your GPU → Uninstall device
  • Reboot and reinstall the latest drivers from HP Support or directly from NVIDIA/Intel.

3. Update Thunderbolt firmware

  • Sometimes the Thunderbolt controller firmware needs to match the BIOS and Windows updates.
  • Check HP Support for the latest Thunderbolt driver and firmware for your Omen 17 ck-1440nw.

4. Test alternate USB-C ports (if available)

  • Some Omen models have multiple USB-C ports try another port that supports DisplayPort Alt Mode / Thunderbolt.

5. Power cycle the laptop and display

  • Turn off both the laptop and external display, unplug everything, wait 1–2 minutes, then reconnect and power on.

I hope this helps.
