During teams calls when viewing cameras belonging to other staff, we see strange, green artificing. This doesn't occur for all participant squares only some, but there is not consistency as it can change during a call. Resizing the teams windows can resolve to issue only for it to recur again later. This only occurs when just using the internal monitor. If the notebook is plugged into an external monitor via USB-C we do not see this issue occur at all.

@AriBiantes, Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.

Based on your description and the image, the green pixelated visual glitch during Microsoft Teams calls, especially when using the internal notebook display only, suggests a GPU rendering or driver compatibility issue. Here's how you can troubleshoot and resolve it:

Update Graphics Drivers

Outdated or buggy drivers can cause rendering issues in video conferencing apps.

  • Identify your notebook's GPU (Intel, AMD, or NVIDIA).
  • Visit HP official support site:
    Official HP® Support
  • Enter your notebook model and download the latest graphics driver.
  • Alternatively, use HP Support Assistant to automatically detect and install updates:

Disable Hardware Acceleration in Teams

Teams uses GPU acceleration which can sometimes conflict with certain drivers.

  • Open Microsoft Teams.
  • Click on your profile picture > Settings > General.
  • Scroll down and uncheck:
"Disable hardware acceleration" (or check it if it's already unchecked, toggle to test).
  • Restart Teams and check if the issue persists.

Check Windows Display Settings

Sometimes internal display scaling or refresh rate settings can cause rendering artifacts.

  • Right-click on desktop → Display settings.
  • Ensure Scale is set to 100%.
  • Click Advanced display settings → Check refresh rate (try lowering it to 60Hz if higher).
  • Restart Teams and test again.

Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

To rule out hardware faults with the internal display or GPU:

Test with Teams Web Version

To isolate if the issue is with the desktop app:

  • Use Teams Web in Microsoft Edge or Chrome.
  • Join a call and observe if the glitch appears.

Why It Works on External Monitor

When connected via USB-C to an external monitor, the GPU may switch to a different rendering path or use a different display pipeline, bypassing the issue affecting the internal panel.

I hope the information shared has been useful and resolves your concern.

Wishing you a smooth and hassle-free experience ahead!

Hi!

Thanks for your assistance. Unfortunately, we still see the issue. We have updated our graphics drivers and the diagnostic tool hasn't shown an error.

The screen refresh rate is 60Hz currently. We'll try the window scaling solution.

We have used the diagnostic tool to capture our device information. Would you like us to upload the results somehow?
