Hello. I am planning to buy a new laptop, which will likely be the HP Pavilion x360 14-ba102nh.
On the specifications page it shows that it is compatible with a Microsoft Ink active pen, so I'm guessing that's the HP Pen.
The pen probably doesn't come with the laptop, so I will have to buy my own, but, I couldn't find it for sale in my country.
So, my question is, will the Wacom Bamboo pen work with it? If so, I'll definitely buy this laptop.
Compatibility probably depends on the software, as these active pens use the same technology.
But if the laptop ships with a pen, I'm in luck.
Thank you for your answer(s) in advance

Hi davimatyi,
So I checked the pen compatibility chart here and found that it is compatible with the HP Pen (Microsoft) 1CP24AV/Y0C43AV and may be compatible with the HP Tilt Pen (Microsoft) 1SC98AV (Dark Ash Silver) / 1TD47AV (Natural Silver).
The computer is most likely compatible with Windows Ink, meaning the Wacom Bamboo Ink pen should work as the Bamboo Ink is advertised to work fully with Windows Ink.

Hope this helps,

Thank you very much for your answer. I will consider buying it then, and if it doesn't come with a pen, I'll buy a wacom one. That's not as expensive, so it's less money that goes to waste if it doesn't work for some reason.

Hi davimatyi, did you buy the laptop and the pen, does it work well with the Bamboo Ink? I'm planning to pick up both of these at the moment, and it would be nice to know whether the pen works...
Thank you in advance!

Hi akijakya,
Yes, I bought the laptop and ended up buying a used pen off ebay. The pen is missing the end button, but that isn't essential, just opens Windows ink. At least it came with a battery.
The pen works great. I didn't need to install any drivers, just needed to pair it using bluetooth. Most programs recognize it, but you need at least Photoshop CC, as it is not supported in CS6.
The pen is not that accurate and high resolution as a dedicated drawing tablet, but perfect for drawing on the go.
The screen is the best part. Accurate colors, good viewing angles, and great to use the touchscreen in tablet mode. But be prepared for glare and fingerprints.
Overall, I'm very satisfied with it. The battery life is not the best, once you tune Windows power management settings you can get 6 hours using Word. The Type-c port is only USB, doesn't support DisplayPort. The keyboard is great, the touchpad is mediocre. The speakers are very loud and clear. And the webcam... you won't be using it for anything besides skype. My 13 year old phone has a better camera.
All in all, great laptop, but if I'd buy one right now, I'd go for the i7 model with the GTX940MX. 9/10 recommended
