Hi
I have a HP Zbook 15u G6. The Foxlink web camera was working fairly recently (3 weeks ago) in Zoom but now does not show any video in the video preview screen when I join a Zoom (V5.4.3) session there is only a black screen in the Zoom window. The small white LED beside the web camera is on and so I assume the web camera module is receiving power. I checked that my Zoom client video settings and found only the HP HD Camera is listed under camera. However, when i join a Zoom session the video settings are not listed in the options accessed via the Zoom control bar carrot (settings). I assume that Zoom does not recognise my web camera.
If someone could suggest another app, I could use to test my web camera I would be grateful.
The story so far...
I uninstalled the web camera driver and restarted the device without any success.
I uninstalled the web camera firmware and deleted it from my device, I then used the optional WIN 10 updates to update the web camera driver. Device manager displayed the driver as SunplusIT 16/07/2020 V5.08.30. This did not allow the web camera video to be displayed.
I have used the HP Support Assistant, fixes & diagnostics, run hardware diagnostics, launch (wait), component test, multimedia, web camera test. The result was a pass and so I am assuming I do not have a hardware fault.
I went to the HP software and driver's portal and logged in; the portal correctly identified that my OS was Windows 10 (64 bit). I manually scrolled down to the very bottom of the Windows version option button and choose the latest WIN 10 update (20H2).
A list of downloads was displayed. I chose Driver-Keyboard, Mouse and Input Devices-> HP Universal Camera Driver (2019.0.19041.2 Rev.A) Oct 13,2020 and installed it.
The description in WIN 10 device manager was SunplusIT 16/07/2020 V5.08.31 Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatibility Publisher. A small incremental change in the version number. But still the web camera does not display video.
I powered off my device waited 10 seconds and then switched it back on and presses the esc key until I was taken to the BIOS. I pressed F2 but unfortunately the screen was in a language I could not understand so I depressed the power switch for 5 second to power off my device.
I used the HP Support Assistant, support resources, HP product support center, click here, login -> Software, drivers & firmware, go, to navigate to the correct portal for my device. I chose to install diagnostic, HP PC hardware diagnostics UEFI V7.7.1.0 Rev.A from my Chrome browser.
I repeated the process to enter the BIOS setup and this time when I chose F2 I was taken to a window which was in English. It did not have an option to test but displayed messages which assured me the hardware was working. Personally, I think this is a good idea as users (and others) can't fiddle with the BIOS setup.
Once again, I ran the HP PC hardware diagnostics Window Ver.1.6.6.0 component test, multimedia, web camera test. The result was "PASSED". But still the web camera does not display video in a Zoom session preview window.
Solved! Go to Solution.
