HP Laptop 14 dk1xxx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I recently bought the HP Laptop 14 (Black) on Amazon from the official HP. On the device specifications, it was advertised that the laptop had a rear webcam resolution of 1.2 mp. But after receiving the laptop, there was some issues with the webcam. The moment I turned on the camera to check the quality, I was greeted with what looked like green corrupted video. It was as though someone put a negative filter on the camera except everything was green. I wiped the camera with a napkin and the green corrupted video stopped. It now showed what it is supposed to do except the quality was really poor. I was puzzled and tried changing the camera resolution but the only options were 0.3 Mp, 0.4 Mp, 0.2 Mp, and 0.1 Mp. I was confused and utilized an online webcam checker. It also stated that the max webcam resolution was 0.3 Mp. But on the Amazon product listing it states that the resolution was 1.2 Mp. I checked to make sure the online checker was correct by checking my old chromebook (which had a resolution of 0.9 Mp) and the checker also confirmed the resolution. I don't think the online webcam checker was wrong but rather that the camera is somehow defective. Is the camera defective, or is there some settings or things that I could do to fix the camera quality?

P.S I also uninstalled the driver and checked the camera driver for updates but that didn't work

Welcome to HP Community

I have gone through your Post and would like to help

I suggest you download and run the HP Support Assistant from this Link: https://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html?jumpid=va_r602_us/en/any/psg/p...

HPSA will automatically search for all the latest drivers for your Notebook

  1. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.

Click Updates in the My notebook pane

  2. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.

Updates list in HP Support Center

  3. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.

  4. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.

  5. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

Also ensure Windows is up to date.

Select the Start  button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update , and select Check for updates. If Windows Update says your device is up to date, you have all the updates that are currently available

Keep me posted how it goes

Thank you and have a wonderful day 😊
