HP ENVY x360 15.6 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 15-es1000 IDS Base Model
Microsoft Windows 11

My built in webcam, HP Wide Vision HD Camera is no longer working with Windows 11 Pro.  I cannot find a driver update to make the webcam work.  I've tried HP Support as well as Windows support, with shared control of the laptop.  We have uninstalled and reinstalled via the device manager many times.  The camera works for 2 seconds, then glitches and goes grey in the device manager.  I cannot find any drivers on HP for this webcam.  HELP!

@BlakjackLane, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

It sounds like you're experiencing an issue with the HP Wide Vision HD Camera on your HP ENVY x360, where the camera works momentarily before glitching and turning gray in Device Manager. Let's go through a set of troubleshooting steps that may help you resolve the issue.

Update Windows:

Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for updates.

Install any updates, then restart your laptop.

Use HP Support Assistant:

Open HP Support Assistant (download if needed from HP's site).

Check for updates and install any available camera driver updates.

Reinstall Camera Driver:

Right-click on the Start menu > Device Manager.

Find Imaging Devices, right-click HP Wide Vision HD Camera, and select Uninstall.

Restart your laptop. Windows should reinstall the driver automatically.

If not, go to HP’s support site, search for your laptop model, and download the HP Wide Vision HD Camera driver.

Run Windows Camera Troubleshooter:

Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.

Click Run under Camera and follow the prompts.

Check Camera Privacy Settings:

Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera.

Make sure Allow apps to access your camera is turned on.

Test the Camera in the Camera App:

Open the Camera app (search in the Start menu) to see if the camera works there.

I hope this helps.
