HP ENVYx360 convertible 13-y0xx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have got an HP ENVY x360 convertible notebook which operates on windows 10 OS. Recently I found that my Webcam is not working. I am not sure when it stopped working as I was not using it regularly. But due to the current scenario its the most needed one for my job. I tried most of the solutions posted in the HP forums and over the internet except microsoft restore. I don't want to go for a restore option. When I searched in the device manager for my Webcam driver, it was hidden and I have uninstalled ( HP True vision HD) as per one of the solution thread. After restarting I couldn't find any driver in the device manager. Kindly help me to solve this issue as early as possible.

@Deepa2 here's a few steps to resolve the issue, start with checking for the webcam kill switch (if available on your model) and ensure its turned on,

That said, If your webcam has stopped working after installing a new update, you should uninstall the update and roll back to the older version. You will have to open Device Manager > right-click on the device > select Properties > switch to Driver tab > click on Roll Back Driver button > select Yes on the next window. After that, you need to restart your PC to check whether it is working.

If that doesn't work or there were no updates before the issue occurred, you might need to uninstall the webcam driver.

To do this, open Device Manager > right-click on the device > select Properties > switch to Driver tab > click on Uninstall Device button.

Restart your computer and then open Device Manager again and click on Action > Scan for hardware changes. (this would automatically reinstall the best drivers for it)

Once done, I suggest you install all the latest pending Windows updates as below and check if it helps.

  1. Go to “settings” and click on “update and security”.
  2. Under tab “Windows update”, click on the icon “check for updates”.
  3. Then once you find the pending updates install it and check.

Hi Riddle,

Thank you for your suggestions. Its not solved yet.I have tried all the suggestions. No device is listed in my device manager.First it was there in hidden devices. Then I uninstalled and after restarting,I have gone for "scan for hardware changes" again. But No Camera or Imaging device is listed in the Device Manager. HP Webcam-101 or Microsoft USB Video Device is also not listed..And I do have a Microsoft Camera App installed on my notebook. When I open that,it says couldn't find the Camera. And even I couldnot find the webcam software for my notebook from the support website. So,as says in the video should I opt for a Microsoft Restore? What will happen if I go for that?or will it be some hardware issue? Should I take this to customer care?

Waiting for your response

Thank you

@Deepa2 Yes, it looks like customer care would be the best way forward, if the issue persists after everything that you've done, and I suggest you talk to HP support and discuss your options, follow the below steps to get started:

1) Click on this link - http://www.hp.com/contacthp/

2) Click on Sign-in or select the product using the below step:

3) Enter the serial of your device.

4) Select the country from the drop-down.

5) Click on "Show Options".

Fill the web-form, to populate a case number and phone number for yourself!

Also, if you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty, if yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from,

here's how private messages work: Click here for details.

If you wish to thank me for my efforts, you could click on "Accept as solution" on my post as the solution should help others too.
