My built-in webcam is no longer working on Windows 10. However, the white LED of the webcam is on.
Using Cyberlink YouCam as well as Windows default camera app, i get a blank screen , and capturing pictures or recording videos gives error.
I have tried to uninstall the driver from device manager, and then reinstalled it, but it not work.
In device manager, under the tab 'Cameras', there is HP Truevision HD. The driver is up to date.
I have tried restarting the laptop and it did not help.
I tried windows update but that is now up-to-date yet did not help.
WHat can i do to fix this issue?
How can I be sure it is a software issue?
(Device manager shows 1 device under cameras, so I doubt it its a hardware problem)

@AbdulRafeyAftab Peace be unto you!
Depending on the webcam software that came with your computer, you might be able to download the software from the Microsoft Store, HP, or the manufacturer's website.
NOTE:If the operating system on your computer was upgraded, these steps do not work. Instead, go directly to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads webpage or the software manufacturer’s website.
Check the Microsoft Store. Many of the apps that came pre-installed on your computer are available to download for free in the Microsoft Store app.
Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page. If a Let's identify your product to get started page displays, select your computer type, type the model name of your computer, and then click Submit. From the list of available software and driver categories, find the software you are looking for, click the category name, and then click Download.
Go to the software manufacturer's website.

Thank you for the detailed response.
Unfortunately, the webpage you mentioned (HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads) gives a 404 error.
Secondly, I followed the step-by-step procedure on the website you mentioned (https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c01414839). The driver is updated, the device is enable and YouCam shows the HP Truevision HD device. But no output of camera is displayed. Pictures are attache for you to see. Just to let you know, the white LED of the camera also turns on when the YouCam app is open. However, recording a video fails and gives an error. (Please see images attached)
Thanks for the help so far.

@AbdulRafeyAftab Thanks for writing back to us, I'm not sure why the links I attached weren't working, but I've edited the same and it should work fine now, that said, I suggest you delete the webcam software from the device manager by right-clicking on it and then restart the device, as that would auto-install a generic driver that should resolve the issue.
let me know how that pans out.
Good luck!
