I’m experiencing a persistent issue with the webcam on my HP Victus laptop. When I attempt to use the camera, the indicator light keeps blinking continuously. The Camera app briefly shows a “No connected devices” error, which disappears almost immediately. After that, the app keeps switching between camera and photo modes without showing any video feed.
I have already tried multiple troubleshooting steps, including:
- Updating camera drivers via Device Manager
- Updating BIOS and Windows
- Running HP Hardware Diagnostics (no issues detected)
- Checking Device Manager, which shows the webcam status as “working”
Despite all this, the problem persists. I’ve also noticed that many other Victus users have reported similar webcam issues since the beginning of summer, which makes me think this might be a broader compatibility or driver-related problem.
I would appreciate it if HP could investigate this issue further and provide a working solution or official update.

@Anuj0071, Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.
Based on your description and the steps you've already tried, it sounds like the webcam might be disabled via a privacy feature or there's a deeper driver or hardware conflict. Here's a structured approach to resolve this:
Reset Camera App Permissions
Sometimes, Windows privacy settings block camera access.
- Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera
- Ensure Camera access and Let apps access your camera are both enabled
- Scroll down and ensure the Camera app has permission
Uninstall and Reinstall Webcam Driver
Even if Device Manager shows the webcam as "working", the driver might be corrupted.
- Open Device Manager
- Expand Imaging Devices or Cameras
- Right-click your webcam > Uninstall device
- Restart your laptop, Windows should reinstall the driver automatically
Run HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (Webcam Test)
You mentioned running diagnostics, but ensure you specifically ran the Webcam Connection Test:
- Press Esc during startup > Select F2 for diagnostics
- Choose Component Tests > Webcam Test
BIOS Camera Settings
Sometimes the webcam is disabled in BIOS.
- Restart your laptop and press Esc > then F10 to enter BIOS
- Navigate to Advanced > Built-in Device Options
- Ensure Integrated Camera is enabled
- Save and exit
Try HP Cloud Recovery or System Restore
If the issue started recently, consider:
- System Restore to a point before the issue began
- Or use HP Cloud Recovery Tool to reinstall the OS and drivers (as a last resort)

If none of these steps resolve the issue, it could be a hardware fault with the webcam module. In that case, please visit the nearest HP authorized service center, the service team will check and assist you.
