I am currently working with my laptop and one spare screen but really miss having total 3 screens on my previous set up. I tried a hub with HDMI and VGA with an adapter but didn't recognise when a third screen was plugged in. How can I set up so I have total 3 screens please?

Hi @MojitoMary,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To set up a total of three screens including your HP Spectre x360, you'll need a docking station or USB-C hub that supports multiple displays. The HP Spectre x360 has USB-C ports, so a USB-C hub or docking station that supports multiple monitors is ideal. Here’s what you should look for.
USB-C Docking Station with Multi-Monitor Support:
- Ensure it supports multiple monitors: Look for docking stations that specifically mention support for at least two external monitors.
- Check resolution and refresh rate compatibility: Make sure the docking station supports the resolutions and refresh rates you need for your screens.
USB-C Hub with HDMI/DisplayPort:
- Choose a hub with dual HDMI/DisplayPort outputs: Some hubs come with multiple video outputs that can handle more than one external display.
- Verify compatibility with your laptop: Make sure the hub is compatible with the HP Spectre x360 and supports the required display configurations.
Recommended Options:
- HP Thunderbolt Dock G2: Supports multiple monitors via USB-C and offers several video output options including HDMI and DisplayPort.
Setting Up:
- Connect the Docking Station or Hub to your HP Spectre x360 using the USB-C port.
- Plug in the Monitors: Connect your two external monitors to the docking station or hub using the appropriate cables (HDMI, DisplayPort, etc.).
- Configure Display Settings:
- Right-click on your desktop and select Display settings.
- Click on Detect to find the new monitors.
- Arrange your displays as desired and choose the appropriate display modes (Extend, Duplicate, etc.).
Troubleshooting:
- Driver Updates: Ensure that your laptop’s graphics drivers and docking station drivers are up-to-date.
- Hub Compatibility: Double-check that the hub supports the number of monitors and the resolutions you’re using.
If your current hub didn’t recognize the third screen, it may not support multi-display setups or could be malfunctioning. A dedicated docking station designed for multiple monitors should resolve this issue.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
