Hi @Elicyrpto,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To configure the DNS server address and alternate DNS server address for an IP address in Windows 7, follow these steps.
Open Network and Sharing Center:
- Click on the Start button.
- Go to Control Panel.
- Select Network and Internet.
- Click on Network and Sharing Center.
Change Adapter Settings:
- In the left-hand menu, click on Change adapter settings.
Select Network Connection:
- Find the network connection you want to configure (e.g., Local Area Connection or Wireless Network Connection).
- Right-click on the connection and select Properties.
Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) Properties:
- In the connection properties window, scroll down and select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4).
- Click on Properties.
Configure DNS Server Addresses:
- In the Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) Properties window, select Use the following DNS server addresses.
- Enter the preferred DNS server address in the Preferred DNS server field.
- Enter the alternate DNS server address in the Alternate DNS server field.
Here are examples of DNS server addresses you might use.
Google DNS:
- Preferred DNS server: 8.8.8.8
- Alternate DNS server: 8.8.4.4
Cloudflare DNS:
- Preferred DNS server: 1.1.1.1
- Alternate DNS server: 1.0.0.1
OpenDNS:
- Preferred DNS server: 208.67.222.222
- Alternate DNS server: 208.67.220.220
After entering the DNS server addresses, click OK to save the settings, and then click Close to close the properties window.
Your DNS settings should now be configured, and you can close any remaining windows.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
