The Tilt Pen has a lot of funtionality that is somewhat involved. Its two buttons have different functions depending on whether your are in Pen (drawing) mode or Presentation (slideshow) mode. (They should have presented the information in a two-column matrix instead of mucking it up with all the repetitive narrative.) To change modes, you press the button on the top end while holding down the button on the barrel.
For example, in Presentation mode, you can use the two buttons to: right click, left click, Page Up, Page Down, or move the screen cursor.
The User Guide for the HP Tilt Pen is at http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05941803. In it, it does say that, in order to do tilit shading, you have to connect the pen via Bluetooth and download the driver found at http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp82001-82500/sp82109.exe.
The datasheet for the regular Pen can be found at https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/71FdcFBgZOL.pdf.
There is also a document called HP PCs - Using a Pen with Windows Ink Workspace that describes how to use digital pens for various tasks. It is at https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05205383
These documents combine to explain all the additional control that the Tilt Pen offers compared to the regular Pen.
Of special note is that it takes about an hour to charge the Tilt Pen (that has no on/off and lasts only about 10 hours?). So it sound like you need to keep the Tilt Pen plugged in and charging at least every night. This is in comparison to the less-expensive Pen that uses a replaceable AAAA battery (available from Amazon) that's good for up to 18 months. The battery-life issue suggest that the regular Pen might be a better choice if you aren't going to really use the added drawing/slideshow functionality of the Tilt Pen.

HP Pen 1MR94AA is compatible to Spectre x360. Last week, I had bought this Pen for my Elitebook x360 1030G2. That didn't work for my Laptop. I had been local store in Pune and found that it works amazingly for Spectre any model.
