Hi @Samajama1,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
If your HP laptop powers on (fan and power light are on) but the screen stays black, this is often referred to as a "black screen on boot" issue. Here are some steps you can try to diagnose and potentially fix it:
1. Perform a Hard Reset
- Turn off the laptop completely.
- Disconnect the power adapter and remove the battery (if removable).
- Press and hold the power button for 15–20 seconds.
- Reconnect the battery and power, then try turning it on again.
2. Check the Display
- Shine a flashlight at an angle on the screen. If you see a faint image, the backlight may be faulty.
- Try connecting the laptop to an external monitor via HDMI or VGA. If the external display works, the issue is likely with the laptop screen or its connection.
3. Reset BIOS (Blind Reset)
- Turn off the laptop.
- Press and hold Windows + B, then press and hold the power button for 2–3 seconds.
- Release all keys and wait. If successful, the BIOS recovery screen should appear.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
