I am having a issue with my laptop that the top of the screen goes white before and when i play games the corners of my screen is flickering and now the top of my screen where the white pixels appearing turns to black line now. I am wondering if it is a LCD issue or video graphics?

Hi @Zeke05,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your laptop!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
LCD Screen Issues:
- Cracked or Damaged Screen: Broken or damaged screens can cause lines, patterns, or unusual colors. Over time, these can evolve into darker spots or lines.
- Screen Defects: Liquid spillage or impacts can damage the internal screen components, causing discoloration or lines.
Video Graphics Issues:
- Outdated Drivers: Graphic issues can arise from outdated or corrupted drivers.
- Incorrect Display Settings: Misconfigurations in display settings might also cause flickering or line issues.
Troubleshooting Steps:
Visual Inspection:
- Check for any visible damage, such as cracks or spots on the screen.
- Ensure no liquid has come into contact with the screen recently.
Update Graphics Driver:
- Ensure your graphics driver is up to date. You can use HP PCs - Updating drivers and software with Windows Update for guidance.
External Display Test:
- Connect your laptop to an external monitor. If the issue persists on the external monitor, it's likely a graphics card issue rather than the LCD.
Safe Mode Boot:
- Boot your laptop in Safe Mode to check if the issue resolves itself in a minimal driver environment.
HP Hardware Diagnostics:
- Use the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) tool to test for any hardware-related issues. You can initiate this tool by pressing the F2 key during boot, selecting Component Tests, and then selecting Video.
I hope this helps.
