Hi @Fel71, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
A white line on your HP 15.6-inch Laptop PC 15-fc0000 (733M4AV) screen can be caused by several factors, including hardware or software issues. Since you haven't dropped your laptop, let's go through some troubleshooting steps:
Perform a Hard Reset
- Turn off your laptop completely.
- Disconnect any peripherals (USB devices, external monitors, etc.).
- Unplug the power adapter and remove the battery (if removable).
- Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds to drain residual power.
- Reconnect the power adapter and turn the laptop back on.
Check if the Issue Appears in BIOS
- Turn off your laptop.
- Turn it back on and repeatedly press F10 to enter the BIOS.
- If the white line appears in the BIOS screen, it's likely a hardware issue (screen or cable problem).
- If the line doesn’t appear in BIOS, the issue might be driver-related.
Update Graphics Drivers
- Open Device Manager (Press Win + X → Select Device Manager).
- Expand Display Adapters.
- Right-click your graphics driver (AMD Radeon or Intel) and choose Update driver.
- Select Search automatically for drivers and install any updates.
- Restart your laptop.
Connect to an External Monitor
- Plug in an external monitor via HDMI.
- If the external monitor does not show the white line, your laptop's screen may have a hardware defect.
- If the line appears on both screens, it’s likely a GPU or software issue.
Perform a Screen Test (Built-in HP Diagnostics)
- Turn off the laptop.
- Press Esc repeatedly, then press F2 to open HP Diagnostics.
- Run the Display Test to check for hardware faults.
- If an error code appears, note it down and check HP's support website.
Check for hardware damage
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
