HP Spectre x360
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

So I just bought the HP Spectre x360 (15 inch) a few weeks ago. 

 

Today while using the laptop, the screen just developed some whiteish lines in some place. I figured this was similar to the blank screen problem I had a few days ago (screen goes blank but I can still hear audio), which was fixed by a couple of resets (using the power button) but this issue appears to be permanent.

 

The lines are very similar to what you see on a LCD TV when the screen goes bad - my last Samsung TV had a similar problem and they replaced the whole TV (was in warranty).

 

So I guess this would also need a screen/laptop change? 

 

Things I have already tried to no avail: power reset, windows reset, BIOS update, driver update 

 

HELP!

This is almost certainly an indication of failing video hardware -- either the screen or the video chip or both.

You need to connect an external monitor to the laptop.

If the visual artifacts also appear on the monitor, then it is a failing video chip and since those are soldered to the motherboard, they are not replaceable.

If the visual artifacts do NOT appear on the monitor, then it is a failing laptop screen. While those can be replaced, the cost varies enormously by individual PC model.

We are not able, or permitted, to provide any repair estimates or equipment prices.
