Troubleshooting black screen issues on HP Notebooks: Click here to view the instructions!

HP Spectre 360
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have had this laptop since the middle of March. Shortly after getting it (but after the return date was over) I noticed a white stripe when I scrolled down/up. However, the stripe came and went pretty quickly so I wasn't sure if I did see something. Since then the stripe has appeared a couple of times (the last time there were two white stripes); the stripe only appeares/disappeares when scrolling, it isn't a fixed thing on the screen. Also it has never appeared when playing a video. I've managed to take a couple of photo's of it. Hopefully someone can tell me what the problem is and hopefully it isn't something serious and it's fixable. Thank you.Schermafdruk 2018-05-06 19.56.37.pngSchermafdruk 2018-04-15 23.20.59.png

Good Day. A warm welcome to the HP community.

I reviewed the case regarding issues with the white stripes in the computer. I will be delighted to assist you here.

Superb description, brilliant troubleshooting and terrific observations made before posting. Kudos to you for that. 😉

For better clarity and to assist you correctly, I would require more information regarding this:

Did you try any troubleshooting steps before contacting us?

How long are you facing this issue?

Is it happening with any particular software?

For now please try these steps:

Follow this link https://hp.care/2B3MVQS do a quick search with the product number, select the right operating system, and update the graphics drivers.

Once done, re-start the notebook, and check if you get the stripes.

This should do the trick for you. Please perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue.

The trick is to remain patient, Going by your technical expertise and competence I am sure you will be able to perform these steps without breaking a sweat. 🙂

Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes. 😉

Thank you for your reply. After posting my message I did some more investigating and I realise now that the stripes only occur when I'm using Explorer. So far no white stripes have appeared when using Office or Chrome so I think the fault lies with Explorer. Explorer was already installed on the laptop when I got it. I'm going to uninstall it and install it again. Hopefully that will take care of the problem. If not, I'll be back to ask for more help.

I've reset the setting of Explorer Edge, so far no white stripes. However, because of work I've been using Chrome mostly so can't say for certain that the white stripes are gone. If they return I'll remove Edge completly and re-install it. Hopefully that will work. If not than I'll be back for advice.

Thanks.
