HP Laptop 15-bs2xx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

This silly thing has a tablet mode but no touch screen option in order to use the on screen keyboard. It's confusing me. I've gone through all of the trouble shooting tips from HP as well as Microsoft and am getting nowhere except extreme confusion. Is this something I can cure or do I just resign myself to not being able to ever use tablet mode and shrug it off to bad design? It's frustrating... If anyone has a solution or advice to give me, it would be greatly appreciated. Please, though, don't flame me for asking a question that is probably silly, I'm just trying to figure out this laptop. My old one is four years old and the OS on that was Windows 8.1, so Windows 10 is quite a change for me. I know that products with touch screen are labeled as such, but why would they include a tablet mode if it's not touch screen? Baffling...

My advice:  Just ignore the tablet mode.

It is not an HP design error - it is a Windows setting that supports the function on those computers that can take advantage of the feature.

Tablet mode is offered through Windows 10 as part of the support for mobile devices - the windows software is not aware of your particular hardware.

I have the same settings on a big-old-Zbook-workstation that is about as far away from touch-screen / tablet mode as one can go.

If you want to fuss with it:

Settings > System > Tablet Mode

When I sign in: Use the appropriate mode for my hardware

When tis device automatically switches tablet mode on or off: Always ask before switching

Hide app icons on the taskbar in tablet mode:  OFF

Automatically hide the taskbar in tablet mode: OFF
