If your computer is missing the needed Radeon display driver, download driver:   AMD 1/13/15 ver 8.970.100.9001

Hi, I was able to follow most of your steps - the only difference was when I click to see the available drivers I can't see any dates associates with any of them. I see 3 listing for ATI Radeon HD 3450 and one for Microsoft Basic Display Adapter. I tried each of the ATI Radeon HD 3450 and it says "Windows has successfully updated your driver", but then nothing seem to be changed with the resolution.

When I go into Display settings it still says it is using the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter.

Any thoughts on what I might try?

I tried the solution suggested on my hp s5380t with an hp 2009m monitor.  It didn't make any difference.

I hate to waste a perfectly good monitor for this issue.   I didn't have any issues with the resolution until the latest Windows 10 update on 11/25/17, despite AMD's claim that it wasn't supporting the ATI Radeon HD 4300/4500 Series in 2015.

I heard on twitter that microsoft is aware and working on a fix for the problem - I am not sure how true that is, but just wanted to mention that in case you want to wait and see if they do release a fix instead of giving up on your monitor.

Fingers crossed. Microsoft screwed it up. They should fix it.
