I tried all of the fixes listed. None of them worked for me. I ended up purchasing a MSI Radeon HD6450 card($39). Installed it and when I loaded the driver, it said something like "Hey, you should be at 1680x900 resolution. Do you want me to change it?" The display now works fine. Cheaper than a new monitor.

@Wade. I tried your fix on my Touchsmart 300-1020 running Win 10 Pro, and it isn't helping. When I get to the menu to select a driver, I get three choices for my card, HD3200, but none of them show a date, and none of them change the resolution. I also don't have the option to roll back the driver or the updates to the point that it helps. Any ideas? Thanks.

I was dealing with exactly the same problem, no dates on the drivers, and each one I picked made no difference. Here's how I fixed it. Go to Start Menu > Settings > Update & Security > Recovery. Choose go back to an earlier build. It took my PC about 15 minutes to roll back the build and then when I went to the adapter settings in the device manager, and followed Wade's instructions, I saw dates by the adapters and I was able to choose the one from January, and it fixed my whole issue.

I'd probably try captain7391's solution. To be honest, I'm somewhat afraid the next time MS rolls out updates we will all be in the same situation again and MS may remove the old driver so my solution may not work in the future.
Hate to say it, but it's probably time to start thinking about a new laptop (for me - I don't know how old a Touchsmart is). However, I really don't want to waste the money when my laptop still works. Although, anymore I'm questioning if I shouldn't just load lubuntu - I use it on an older DV7 laptop and it works great (put a SSD hard drive in it). I doubt that would be advisable on a touchscreen though.
Although, it is handy to have a Windows laptop just to help people out.
If you do figure out a solution, please post it.
Thanks (sorry that seems pesimistic).

I just wanted to post that I know 3 computers that have had this issue in the last few days. Only one was an HP, but this seems to be the best thread out there when Googling so I'm posting here in case it helps anyone.
These computers lost their normal resolution - meaning the display resolution changed to a lower resolution, and the choices for changing the resolution did not allow changing to native resolution. As a result, the screen was either blurry (enlarged) or did not use the whole screen width. For example, 1920x1080 was no longer a choice for a computer with a 1920x1080 monitor.
In addition to that, the "Sleep" button was removed from the power button in the start menu (Start menu > power button) where it is usually next to "Shut down" and "Restart".
What these computers have in common is AMD graphics in the series Radeon HD 3000 or Radeon HD 4000. One specifically I know was a 4670 and another was a 4300/4500. The other was a 3000 something, not sure exactly what, but in the 3000 series.
Now here is something interesting. Earlier I saw an AMD page -
https://community.amd.com/docs/DOC-1313
That one shows "Discrete AMD Graphics Products Supporting Windows® 10" and it includes-
The following Discrete AMD Radeon™ Graphics products support up to WDDM 1.1 and DirectX® 10.1:
ATI Radeon™ HD 4000 Series /ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 4000 Series Graphics
ATI Radeon™ HD 3000 Series /ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 3000 Series Graphics
ATI Radeon™ HD 2000 Series /ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 2000 Series Graphics
These graphics products must be installed using display driver version: 8.970.100.9001. This driver is provided as a courtesy and only available via Windows Update. Please enable Windows Update and allow it to detect and install the appropriate driver.
But when I go to an AMD link from earlier in this thread -
http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/Win10-Driver-Support.aspx
This one shows
Products That Do Not Support Windows® 10
AMD Radeon™ HD 4000 Series products and older are not certified to support Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM) 1.2 or higher and therefore, do not have driver support for Windows® 10.
The following is a list of graphics products that do not support Windows® 10:
ATI Radeon™ HD 4000 Series /ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 4000 Series Graphics
ATI Radeon™ HD 3000 Series /ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 3000 Series Graphics
ATI Radeon™ HD 2000 Series /ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 2000 Series Graphics
So was support for those just removed from Windows 10 just recently???
According to AMD's site, the drivers for these come only from Windows Update now (on Windows). So I have to guess that maybe a Windows Update came through that screwed up the drivers for these older AMD graphics cards.
By the way, of those 3 computers, 1 started working fine again after a subsequent Windows Update. The user just replaced the video card on another, and decided to buy another computer for the last one. It sucks that these all worked just fine in Windows 10 for over a year and now suddently they were screwed up.
