Envy 17 1190ca
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi there,

I just updated to the new Windows 10 v.1709 and I was also updated the AMD driver. Now I am experiencing loss of features. Most importantly, the SLEEP power option  (it's gone ) and also the ability to control color, brightness and contrast via theAMD Catalyst Control Center.   I understand that Hp or Amd are not required to maintain drivers for older laptops but could any one tell me how to adjust the colors, brightness and contrast of my laptop. (ENVY 17 1190ca) .

I tried to re-instal the driver that was before the update but there is screen jitter which is very annoying. Maybe someone with a similar model has found a driver that works.

Thanks

Hi @robie57,

It looks like you were interacting with @Riddle_Decipher, but he is out for the day & I'll be glad to help you out,

As I understand you are having issues with the AMD drivers on your HP notebook. Don't worry as I have a few suggestions which should help you resolve this issue.

Let's start by downloading AMD Driver Autodetect and save it on your desktop.

Now go ahead and uninstall the graphics card drivers for your PC from device manager and then once done, restart the PC.

Once the PC is restarted, I would suggest you Click on Run on the file saved from AMD Driver Autodetect and install it.

Restart the PC once it's installed.

If the issue persists, I would suggest here is to update the Bios, Chipset and graphics card drivers on your PC from our HP support website, using this link.

Also, download and install HP support assistant on your PC. It should automatically download and install the latest updates and drivers for your PC.

Refer this link to know how to use HP support assistant.

Once done, restart the computer and then check if that helps.

Let me know how it goes for further assistance.

Feel free to post your query for any other assistance as well,

It's been a pleasure interacting with you and I hope you have a good day ahead.

Thank you for posting on HP Forums,

Riddle_Decipher is at your service.

As I Understand the brightness adjustment doesn't work in Windows 10 latest build 1703,

No worries, as I'll be glad to help you, that said, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern & provide an accurate solution:

Have you attempted to enable the generic PnP monitor after the update was installed?

If you haven't, here's what you need to do:

1) Search for Device Manager in Start Menu
2) Expand the Monitors section
3) Right click on Generic PnP Monitor and
4) Click on Enable and you are good!

Let me know how that pans out

I hope you have a good day ahead,

And Feel free to ask any other queries as  well,

Considering, this forum has some of the best people in the world available and ready to help.

Thanks for the response.

I followed your advice and enabled the generic dispaly adapter and re-started the laptop, but how do I control the color, brightness and contrast of the display. I no longer have the AMD Catalyst Control Center where I could do this. Under the Windows DISPLAY  settings there is nothing to enable me to control the intensity of the colors. My dispaly appears slightly washed out so I need to re-adjust them.

Thanks Jeet_singh,

I followed your procedure and it installed an older version of the driver with Catalyst Control Center. I was able to re-adjust my display colors and calibration via CCC. I must now undertake to prevent Windows from automatically updating this driver.
