Greetings.
My small stylus has lightly fallen on my computer few days ago and my display has some issues since then.
-There are yellow vertical stripes that appear at a precise location on the screen, about 7 cm width. The yellow stripes at times move with the scrolling text and may increase or reduce intensity depending on what is displayed on the screen.
-Intel(R) UHD graphics is not working and is showing error code 43 on Windows; if I reboot the computer only external monitor is displaying and laptop screen display is completely off.
When I uninstall Intel(R) UHD Graphics drivers and reboot laptop screen display is on, Windows then install default drivers but The computer has lost may functionality such as :
1-Screen light intensity is fixed and can not be changed.
2-Screen does not go off when the computer is sleeping and backlight is flashing intermittently and at times just stays on.
3- Screen Resolution can not be changed.
4-Refresh rate is fixed to 60Hz and can not be changed.
But :
-Nvidia Graphics Card Works very well.
-External Monitor works very well and yellow stripes do not appear there.
Then :
- HP Diagnostic Hardware Diagnostic Tools show no error on all video tests available.
- I have checked the display connection on the motherboard side and everything is OK there.
- I can not do anything on the screen because it might void my laptop warranty.
Is there any screen resetting tweak that can fix this issue or should I send the computer for servicing ?

Hi @fredfoe,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding yellow vertical stripes on your laptop's display!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Preliminary Check
- Restart Your Laptop: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve minor glitches and anomalies.
- Check for External Damage: Visually inspect the screen for any obvious signs of damage caused by the fall.
Display Diagnostics
Hardware Diagnostics:
- HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Windows: Run the built-in diagnostics tool to check for any hardware issues. You can access this tool by restarting your laptop and pressing F2 right after turning it on.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to test the display.
External Monitor Test:
- Connect to External Monitor: If available, connect your laptop to an external monitor. If the external monitor displays properly, the issue may be with the laptop's screen.
Software Troubleshooting
Update Graphics Drivers:
- HP Support Website: Visit the HP Support website to download and install the latest graphics drivers.
- OMEN by HP 16-wf1000 Drivers.
Check Display Settings:
- Windows Display Settings: Go to Settings > System > Display and ensure your display settings are configured correctly.
Windows Updates:
- Update Windows: Make sure your Windows 11 is up to date by checking for updates in Settings > Windows Update.
I hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply.
I have installed all the drivers and nothing has changed.
Here are the details:
- The internal display briefly shows the boot logo but then goes black.
- I'm only able to use the external monitor via HDMI/USB-C.
- In both Windows 11 and Ubuntu Linux, the system detects the Intel UHD Graphics device, but it fails to initialize the internal display (Code 43 error in Device Manager).
- The internal screen flickers with yellow vertical lines when it does show anything at all.
- External monitor works perfectly via NVIDIA RTX 4070 GPU.
Based on diagnostics and community support, it appears the internal display path (likely the eDP cable or panel) was damaged during the incident. The Intel UHD Graphics no longer initializes properly, and even with default Microsoft drivers, the internal display remains unusable.
