Hi Guys,

Everytime I start my laptop up, a window comes up once I have logged in saying "Youcam6_webcam_camera_video.exe has stopped working". Now I haven't used this program before so unsure what it is, it is a window that I just close everytime I turn my laptop on, however is it starting to annoy me and has me wondering how to fix it.

It has got to the stage where I turn on my laptop and wait for it to come up before I do anything else.

I need to get it sorted!

Please give me any form of help as I think I have tried everything and nothing seems to work!

Cheers,

Jake

As I understand YouCam Webcam isn't working as it should,

Don't worry as here are a few steps that should help you out:

Testing a Webcam Using YouCam (Windows 10, 8, 7)

  • Opening YouCam
  • Testing the webcam by recording and playing a video
  • Testing the webcam by taking a picture
  • Error message displays when opening YouCam
  • No image displays in YouCam viewer

I get this error 98% of the time when I reboot or start the camera manually. Once or twice it opens fine. Tried what is listed here to troubleshoot but did not find any issue. The driver software is fine and latest version. Mine is a HP Spectre Windows 10. Please help.

I found a Folder with the name Boomerang under Cyber link Software  after the error referenced the word boomerang  So I deleted the folder or boomerang .exe  file not to sure which  now but I save the folder / file then deleted it from Cyber link under Program files  and the error has never showed it's painful head anymore please try I'm sure you will be happy

I have the same error on hp spectre x360 4103dx running Win10.   Youcam6_webcam_camera_video.exe has stopped working.

This is what worked for me:  1) go to Device Manager and Uninstall the webcam.  2) Run Youcam.  Youcam will say no webcam found.  3) go back to Device Manager and scan for hardware.  4) Youcam will say new camera found, do you want to use it.  5) Yes.  6) Now it works.

Before all this, I tried to update drivers, reinstall Youcam, reboot, etc.  But nothing worked.  It only worked when I had uninstalled the webcam first, then while Youcam was running, scanned for new hardware, then let Youcam use it.

Here step by step:

This is the fix:
 1) Device Manager -> Camera -> HP TrueVision Full HD  (or USB Video Device)
     Right Click, Uninstall
 2) Run YouCam
YouCam will say : No Camera Detected
     leave YouCam running
  3) Device Manager -> Action -> Scan For Hardware Changes
  4) YouCam will now say: "Camera detected, do you want to use it? "  Click "Yes".
      Now it works.

Note: when I removed "HP TrueVision Full HD", and then scanned for changes, the camera was changed to generic "USB Video Device".  I don't think it matters which driver is actually used for the camera.

Thank you Milray.
I was getting the same pop up box that said my webcam6 was not working.
But the cam was working. I could always open the camera from my start menu, I just kept getting that box that came up whenever I started my laptop.
So I followed your instructions and uninstalled the HP Cam from the device manager, opened webcam and left it open, used device manger to scan for hardware changes and it reinstalled the cam, and I have not had the webcam6.exe support box come up since.
Thanks for taking the time to help us.
