Hi @pineapplemariz

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for reaching out. Sudden restarts with the “Your device ran into a problem and needs to restart” message typically point to a critical system error, often caused by driver conflicts, hardware instability, or corrupted system files. And the missing Ethernet option suggests your network adapter may be disabled, misconfigured, or not detected.

Let’s tackle both issues methodically:

Part 1: Fix Sudden Restarts (Blue Screen Errors)

Step-by-step actions:

Check for Critical Error Logs

  • Press Win + X → Event Viewer
  • Go to Windows Logs > System
  • Look for entries marked Error or Critical around the time of the restart
  • Note any Stop Code or Driver Name mentioned

Run System File Checker

  1. sfc /scannow
    • Open Command Prompt as Administrator
    • This will scan and repair corrupted system files

Update BIOS and Chipset Drivers

  • Visit HP 14-dq0000 Driver Page
  • Download and install the latest BIOS and chipset drivers
  • Restart your device after installation

Disable Fast Startup

  • Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what the power buttons do
  • Click Change settings that are currently unavailable
  • Uncheck Turn on fast startup
  • Save changes and restart

Check for Overheating or Hardware Faults

  • Use HP UEFI Diagnostics (press Esc during boot → F2)
  • Run System Tests > Extensive Test to check RAM, CPU, and storage

Part 2: Restore Ethernet Option

If your laptop has a physical Ethernet port but it’s not showing up:

Try these steps:

Enable Hidden Ethernet Adapter

  • Press Win + X → Device Manager
  • Click View > Show hidden devices
  • Expand Network Adapters
  • If you see a faded Ethernet adapter (e.g., Realtek, Intel), right-click → Enable device

Install Ethernet Driver Manually

  • Go to HP Driver Page
  • Download the LAN/Ethernet driver for your model
  • Install it and restart

Check BIOS Settings

  • Restart and press F10 or Esc to enter BIOS
  • Look for Integrated LAN or Onboard LAN
  • Ensure it’s Enabled
  • Save and exit

Use USB-to-Ethernet Adapter (if no physical port)

  • If your laptop lacks a built-in Ethernet port, you can use a USB-to-Ethernet adapter
  • Windows should auto-detect it, or you can install drivers from the adapter’s manufacturer

Let me know what you find in the Event Viewer or if the Ethernet adapter shows up after these steps. I’ll guide you further based on what we uncover.

You're doing everything right by being proactive—let’s get your system stable and connected again.

Hi, thank you for the reply but I couldn't download the needed things to be downloaded to be able to fix both the problem. Can anyone take over my laptop remotely and fix it instead? also I run the command like you instructed and this was the result "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations."
