I purchased a Z5000 bluetooth mouse 2 days ago. I put in the battery provided with the packaging, turned it on, installed the driver, got my HP ProBook 6470b to recognise the device and away I went. Everything worked perfectly until this evening, when my mouse suddenly stopped working. I have;
- replaced the battery
- turned the mouse off and on several times
- clicked the 'Connect' button on the mouse several times (the blue light flashes)
- checked that the mouse is still recognised by my computer (it is)
- run Troubleshooting on my computer (says everything should be fine
2 days seems like a pretty short amount of time to get good use out of a $50 mouse ... what am I missing?

Hello, @DammitJanet – Hope you are well 🙂
Thank you for becoming an HP Forum member. It is a great location to get help from the community, get suggestions and find what has worked for others!
I see that you are having issues while using the Bluetooth mouse on your HP PC. Appreciate all your efforts and I’ll certainly do my best to help you find a solution 😉
First off, update the Bluetooth drivers. Here are the steps:
-
Click Start
, enter Device Manager into the search field, and then select Device Manager from the list.
-
Right-click the name of your Bluetooth Adapter and select Update Driver Software.
-
Follow the screens to install an updated driver if one is available.
If Device Manager does not find an updated driver, you can check the wireless adapter manufacturer's Web site.
-
If no updates available, right-click and uninstall the Bluetooth drivers. Once done, restart the PC so that the Windows will automatically reinstall the drivers.
Now, disconnect the USB dongle from the USB port and reconnect to a different USB port and check.
Those steps should do the trick, let me know the outcome!
Good luck 🙂
