Hi @DESKTOP-TA1OPKU ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are getting a horizontal blue line across the screen of your HP 14 Laptop PC 14-d5000 (4T802AV) could indicate an issue with either the display hardware or the graphics drivers.

Here are a few steps you can follow to troubleshoot the problem:

1. Restart the Laptop

  • Restart your laptop to check if the issue is a temporary glitch.

2. Check for Physical Display Damage

  • Inspect the screen for any visible damage. Press gently around the edges to see if the line changes or disappears, as it could indicate a connection issue inside the display.

3. Update Graphics Drivers

  • Go to Device Manager > Display adapters, right-click on your graphics driver (e.g., Intel UHD or NVIDIA), and select Update driver. You can also download the latest drivers from HP’s or the manufacturer's website.

4. Connect an External Monitor

  • If you have an external monitor, connect your laptop to it. If the blue line doesn't appear on the external monitor, the issue is likely with your laptop's screen. If the line is still visible, it could be a graphics card or driver issue.

5. Boot into Safe Mode

  • Restart your laptop in Safe Mode to check if the line persists. If the blue line disappears in Safe Mode, the issue might be related to a third-party app or driver.

6. Perform a Hard Reset

  • Power down the laptop, unplug it, and remove the battery (if possible). Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds, then reconnect the battery and power on the laptop.

7. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics HP PCs - Testing for hardware failures

  • HP laptops usually come with a built-in diagnostic tool. Press F2 during startup to access the diagnostics and run a full system test, particularly on the display and graphics hardware.

8. Check BIOS

  • If the line is present in the BIOS (accessed by pressing F10 during startup), it could indicate a hardware issue with the screen.
