If the screen brightness regulation isn’t working on your HP ProBook 640 G5 despite updating the drivers, here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:
Check Power Settings:
Go to Settings > System > Power & sleep.
Click on Additional power settings.
Select your active power plan and click on Change plan settings.
Then, click on Change advanced power settings. Look for Display and ensure the brightness settings are configured properly.
Adjust Brightness via Keyboard:
Use the function keys (usually Fn + F2/F3) to adjust brightness. Make sure the function key lock isn’t preventing the brightness adjustment.
Reinstall Display Drivers:
Go to Device Manager (right-click the Start button).
Expand Display adapters, right-click your graphics driver, and choose Uninstall device.
Restart your laptop. Windows should automatically reinstall the driver.
Check Windows Update:
Ensure your system is fully updated. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates.
Display Settings:
Right-click on the desktop and select Display settings. Check if there’s a brightness slider available, and try adjusting it from there.
Graphics Control Panel:
If you have Intel, NVIDIA, or AMD graphics, open their respective control panel and check for brightness settings.
Check for Third-Party Software:
Sometimes, third-party software can interfere with display settings. Consider disabling or uninstalling any screen management tools.
Reset the Display Settings:
Go to Settings > System > Display and scroll down to the bottom to see if resetting display settings helps.
Check for Hardware Issues:
If none of the above work, there could be a hardware issue with the display. You might want to contact HP support for further assistance.
