Hi @Deepu29,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

We understand your camera is not functioning during WhatsApp video calls on your HP Laptop PC 15s-fq2000, and we’re here to assist. This issue is typically related to either privacy settings, camera permissions, or app-specific access within Windows.

1: Check Camera Functionality

Let’s first verify that the camera is working properly:

  1. Press Windows + S and type Camera, then open the built-in Camera app.
  2. If the camera opens and shows video, it's working correctly at the hardware level.

If the camera does not open or shows an error, let us know — we’ll guide you through hardware diagnostics.

2: Check Camera Privacy Settings

  1. Go to Start > Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera.
  2. Ensure Camera access is turned ON.
  3. Scroll down to make sure WhatsApp Desktop (or the browser, if you're using WhatsApp Web) is also enabled under “Let apps access your camera”.

Step 3: Check WhatsApp-Specific Access

Depending on whether you're using the WhatsApp Desktop app or WhatsApp Web in a browser:

If using the WhatsApp Desktop App:

  • Make sure the app is up to date via the Microsoft Store.
  • Go to Settings > Privacy > Camera and confirm that it can access the webcam.

If using WhatsApp Web:

  • Open WhatsApp Web in Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge.
  • When placing a video call, check the browser’s camera permission:
    • Click the padlock 🔒 icon next to the address bar.
    • Make sure the Camera is set to Allow.
  • Also, ensure that the correct camera is selected in WhatsApp or browser settings.

4: Restart WhatsApp and Re-Test

  1. Fully close WhatsApp Desktop or your browser.
  2. Reopen the app and try a test call.
  3. If using WhatsApp Web, consider switching browsers temporarily to test.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
