camera not working on zoom. Have tried to reset preferences and reinstall zoom. Nothing looks wrong. All camera access is checked. Have rebooted laptop and no change. When opening zoom, video is not available but says it is on camera setting. No key to change setting either.

Hi @hcook1122,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It seems like Zoom is not detecting your camera correctly. Here are a few steps you can follow to troubleshoot this issue.
Check Camera Permissions:
- Ensure that the camera is allowed by your system settings. Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera and ensure that "Allow apps to access your camera" is turned on and that Zoom is listed as one of the apps allowed to access the camera.
Update Camera Drivers:
- Go to Device Manager (right-click on Start > Device Manager), expand the Imaging Devices section, right-click on your camera, and select Update driver. Choose Search automatically for drivers to ensure you have the latest driver installed.
Check in Zoom Settings:
- Open Zoom and click the Settings gear icon in the top right.
- Under Video, ensure the correct camera is selected from the drop-down menu.
- If no camera appears, it could be a driver or hardware issue.
Reinstall Camera Driver:
- In Device Manager, right-click your camera and choose Uninstall device. Restart your laptop, and Windows should automatically reinstall the driver.
Test the Camera in Other Apps:
- Open the Camera app on your laptop to check if it works outside of Zoom. If it doesn’t, the issue may be with your camera settings or driver.
Check Zoom Version:
- Make sure you're running the latest version of Zoom. Go to Settings in Zoom > Check for Updates.
Hardware Issues:
- If none of the above steps work, there could be an issue with the camera itself. Try using an external webcam to check if Zoom can detect it.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
