My camera has never worked properly

Hi @chrislynch71,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I understand that the camera has never worked properly on your HP laptop.

Let's start with a few basic checks:

Open Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera.

Make sure camera access and Let apps access your camera are turned on.

Open the Windows Camera app and check whether you get an image or an error message.

Open Device Manager > Cameras (or Imaging Devices) and check whether the camera is listed.

If it is listed, right-click it and check whether there is any warning icon or error code.

Please also provide the exact HP model/product number and let me know what happens when you open the Camera app (for example, black screen, the camera not detected, or a specific error message).

Once we have those details, we can determine the appropriate troubleshooting steps.

Best regards,
Kuroi_Kenshi

I'm an HP Employee.
