HP Envy x360 15.6 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 15-fh0000 (77W46AV)

I have a HP ENVY x360 laptop. Every time I attempt to set up my camera "sign-in" program I get an error stating that my camera is turned off by a keyboard action. I do not have an "f13 key), nor do I have a switch on the side of the laptop to turn the camera on/off. The camera was working fine and now I don't know what I did to turn it off. Help please.

Hi @theOJ51,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP ENVY x360 laptop's camera may have been disabled either through a keyboard shortcut or a software setting. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.

Check Keyboard Shortcuts:

  • Some laptops have function keys (F1, F2, etc.) that double as shortcuts for various functions, including camera toggle. Look for a camera icon on one of these keys (usually F1 to F12). You might need to press the "Fn" key along with the corresponding function key to toggle the camera on or off.

Check Device Manager:

  • Right-click on the Start button and select "Device Manager."
  • Expand the "Imaging devices" or "Cameras" section.
  • If you see your camera listed here (it might be called "Integrated Camera" or something similar), right-click on it and select "Enable" if it's disabled.

Check Privacy Settings:

  • Go to Settings > Privacy > Camera.
  • Make sure that "Allow apps to access your camera" is turned on.

Update Drivers:

  • Sometimes outdated or corrupted drivers can cause issues with the camera. Go to Device Manager, right-click on your camera, and select "Update driver."

Reset the Camera App:

  • Open Settings > Apps > Apps & features.
  • Locate and select the camera app, then click on "Advanced options."
  • Click on "Reset" to reset the app.

Restart Your Laptop:

  • Sometimes a simple restart can resolve temporary issues with hardware.

If these steps don't resolve the problem, there might be a hardware issue with the camera itself.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
