Hi @Abhijith_pba,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're experiencing issues with playing 4K and even 1080p videos smoothly on your Victus by HP gaming laptop equipped with an RTX 3050 GPU and 16GB of RAM, there could be a few potential reasons for this problem.

  • Driver Issues: Ensure that your GPU drivers are up-to-date. Sometimes outdated or corrupted drivers can cause performance issues.
  • Hardware Limitations: While the RTX 3050 is capable of handling 4K video playback, it might struggle with very high bitrate videos or certain codecs. Additionally, the CPU plays a significant role in video playback. Make sure your CPU isn't bottlenecking the system.
  • Software Conflicts: Background processes or software conflicts might be consuming system resources, impacting video playback performance. Close any unnecessary applications running in the background.
  • Power Settings: Check your power settings to ensure your laptop is set to high performance mode. Sometimes, laptops may throttle performance in order to conserve battery life.
  • Overheating: Excessive heat can lead to throttling of performance. Make sure your laptop is adequately cooled and not overheating during video playback.
  • Codec Compatibility: Ensure that the video files you are trying to play are compatible with the hardware and software on your system. Some codecs may require additional processing power to decode properly.
  • Media Player Settings: Try different media player software and adjust their settings to see if that improves performance. Sometimes, certain media players may be more efficient than others.
  • System Optimization: Perform a system cleanup and optimization to ensure that your system is running efficiently. This includes tasks such as disk cleanup, defragmentation, and removing unnecessary startup programs.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
