Hi @Puppydog1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

We understand that the camera on your HP notebook is not working, and we’ll be glad to help. To better understand the issue, could you please share a few more details?

  1. What exactly happens when you try to use the camera?
    • Is the camera not detected at all?
    • Do you see an error message? If yes, please share the exact message.

  2. Which application are you trying to use the camera with? (for example: Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Camera app, etc.)

  3. Please also provide the exact model or product number of your HP notebook, so we can check the correct specifications and drivers.

In the meantime, you may try these basic checks:

  1. Check for a physical camera switch or privacy key
Some HP notebooks have a privacy shutter or keyboard key (often with a camera icon) that can disable the camera. Make sure the camera is not physically blocked or disabled.

  2. Check the camera in Windows settings
  • Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera
  • Make sure Camera access and Let apps access your camera are turned ON.

  1. Test using the Windows Camera app
  • Open the Camera app from the Start menu and see if the camera activates.

  1. Check Device Manager
  • Right-click the Start button → Device Manager
  • Expand Cameras or Imaging devices
  • See if the camera is listed or if there is a warning symbol.

Once you share the model of the notebook and the exact issue or error message, we’ll be able to guide you with more specific steps.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
