Operating System: Microsoft Windows 11

HP laptop 15t-fd000, Win11, HP monitor S2031. The monitor has VGA and DVI inputs. Connecting to an older HP laptop (Win10) via VGA works fine. The 15t has USB-A and USB-C. I tried a VGA to USB-C adapter and the monitor doesn't detect a signal and goes to sleep. I looked around in Windows video settings and did not see any likely changes to try. Any help would be appreciated.

HP Recommended

Chapter 1 of the service manual indicates the USB-C port supports data transfer only.
