Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi. Sorry for my english. I have the following problem. Discrete graphics card doesn't start when you turn on games and other applications. In the task manager, the video card is displayed as working. For different drivers, the computer displays it either as radeon 535dx or as radeon r7 m430. I have already tried updating the BIOS, installing old drivers from the hp website, but this did not help. I saw that many people have the same problem, but haven't found a solution. Whe I starting the test for the video card in AIDA 64, I get a short time load of card, but for some reason the integrated video core works in games and other applications( FurMark for example). Thank you in advance

@Dimka5410 Welcome to HP Community!

I see from your post that you are having issues with the discrete graphics card not getting detected on your HP notebook.

Don't worry we'll work together to help you find a solution.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Have you recently made any software or hardware changes on the PC before the issue started?

Have you tried to update the device drivers or update the Bios?

In the meantime, let's try these steps here:

Perform a Hard reset on the notebook

Many startup errors and other problems can be resolved by decreasing the amount of power stored in hardware components. Decreasing stored power is sometimes referred to as a "Hard Reset". Use the following steps to perform a hard reset on a computer:

1. If Windows is open, click Start and then Shutdown.

If Windows is not open and the computer has power, press and hold the power button on the computer until the computer shuts off.

2. With the power off, disconnect the power cord from the back of the computer.

3. With the power off and the power cord disconnected, press the power button on the computer for 5 seconds. The power light indicator on or near the power button might turn on briefly but then go out.

4. Reconnect the power cord and turn on the power.

Next thing, I would suggest here is to check for Windows update:

Select the Start button, and then go to Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and select Check for updates. If Windows Update says your device is up to date, you have all the updates that are currently available.

Next thing, I would suggest here is to uninstall the display drivers from Device manager:

Use shortcut keys Win + X on Windows 10

Select Device Manager.

Expand the entry. Right-click the problematic device and select Uninstall device.

You may need to check the option Delete the driver software for this device, and then click the Uninstall button.

Now restart the computer and then update the Bios, and graphics card drivers on your PC from our HP Support website, using this link

Also, download and install HP support assistant on your PC. It should automatically download and install the latest updates and drivers for your PC.

Refer this link to know how to use HP support assistant. Once done, restart the computer and check.

Alternatively, I would suggest here is to go through the steps suggested in the support document for - HP PCs - NVIDIA Optimus Graphics with Integrated Intel Graphics (Windows 10, 8, 7)
