Hi @edbnj,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP ENVY x360 not retaining the correct display orientation after you log in. Here are some steps that might help resolve this:

Update Graphics Drivers: Outdated graphics drivers can cause display orientation issues. To update them:

  • Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
  • Expand Display adapters.
  • Right-click on your graphics card and choose Update driver > Search automatically for updated driver software.
  • Restart your laptop if updates were installed.

Check Display Orientation Lock Settings:

  • Open Settings > System > Display.
  • Scroll down and make sure Rotation lock is turned off if you want automatic rotation to work when you rotate the device. If the option isn't visible, try rotating your device physically to see if it appears.
  • Set the Display orientation to Landscape or Portrait as needed.

Configure Orientation Settings in Display Settings:

  • Go to Settings > System > Display.
  • Under Scale and layout, select the desired orientation from the Display orientation dropdown menu (e.g., Landscape or Portrait).
  • Confirm the orientation, and Windows should remember this setting after a restart or log in.

Adjust Power and Sleep Settings:

  • Sometimes, power-saving settings can cause orientation changes to reset.
  • Go to Settings > System > Power & sleep.
  • Set both Screen and Sleep times to values that prevent the device from automatically entering sleep mode too often.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
