Hi @abaasmuuse,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help you!
It seems like you're experiencing an issue where the background on your HP ENVY Laptop 13-ba1000 (1F4E3AV) becomes invisible or disappears when you open it, and the issue persists even when you click on the battery icon or other areas. This could be related to display settings, graphics drivers, or an issue with the operating system. Here are some steps to troubleshoot the problem:
1. Update Graphics Drivers
- Check for Updates: Go to Device Manager (search for it in the Start menu), expand the Display adapters section, right-click on your graphics card (e.g., Intel, NVIDIA), and select Update driver.
- Use HP Support Assistant: If you have the HP Support Assistant installed, use it to check for and install any available driver updates.
2. Check Display Settings
- Right-click on the Desktop: Select Display settings and ensure that the resolution is set to the recommended value.
- Check for Multiple Displays: If you have multiple displays connected, make sure the laptop is set to either Duplicate or Extend mode, depending on your preference.
3. Reset Display and Power Settings
- Reset Display Settings: In Display settings, scroll down to the Advanced display settings and try resetting to default.
- Power Settings: Go to Control Panel > Power Options and make sure your power plan settings are balanced or set to the default. You can also try resetting the power plan to default settings.
4. Run Windows Troubleshooter
- Display Troubleshooter: Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot, then select Additional troubleshooters and run the Display or Power troubleshooter.
- Battery Troubleshooter: If you suspect the issue is related to the battery, you can also run the Power troubleshooter in the same section.
5. Check for Windows Updates
- Update Windows: Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for any pending updates. Installing the latest updates might fix the issue.
Please find the remaining steps in the next post.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @abaasmuuse,
6. Test in Safe Mode
- Boot into Safe Mode: Restart your laptop and boot into Safe Mode (you can do this by holding Shift while clicking Restart, then navigating to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart and selecting Safe Mode).
- Check Behavior: See if the issue persists in Safe Mode. If it doesn't, the problem may be related to a third-party application or driver.
7. Check for Display Calibration or Color Profile Issues
- Color Management: Go to Control Panel > Color Management and ensure that the correct color profile is selected. You can also try resetting or removing any custom color profiles.
8. Perform a System Restore
- Restore to a Previous Point: If the issue started recently, you can try performing a system restore to a point before the problem began. Go to Control Panel > System > System Protection and choose System Restore.
If the problem persists after trying these steps, it may be worth consulting with HP Phone support for further diagnostics or considering a more in-depth inspection of the hardware
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
