I have a usbc docking station that I am converting to usba because my laptop does not have a usbc port. I am unable to export to a 2nd monitor through the docking station.

after reading the specs of the docking station, I am seeing that it only works with computers that support DisplayPort Alt mode.

Can you please help me determine if my laptop has DP alt mode or if that is the reason that I cannot use this docking station for video output?

Thank you very much and have a great day,

No, the way you setting up won't work, your USB-C dock is nearly useless on this case.  If you wish to connect 2 external monitors (only), you can use

  • Monitor 1: HDMI direct cable,
  • Monitor 2: Using a Displaylink Certified USB-A to HDMI adapter such as

                                     USB to HDMI Adapter

For more connectivity, please use

                         True Universal Docking Stations

Regards.
