Edit: It doesn't, just like most other HP 15-dwxxxx models, the USB-C port is only for data transfer.
I can't get my laptop to output video to an external monitor through the USB-C port it has.
here's what I have tried so far:
- Two deferent USB-C hubs that have an HDMI port
- direct connection to a monitor with a USB-C to USB-C cable
- direct connection to a monitor with USB-C to HDMI cable
- a combination of all the above on the latest version of Ubuntu, Windows 10, and Windows 11.
for reference, the USB-C port on my laptop can transfer data at a high speed, and can Fast Charge my Samsung phone but can's be used to charge my laptop (which I assume is normal).
also, all the mentioned setups worked flawlessly on another HP laptop that has a similar USB-C port (5 Gbps)
the reason I insisted on making this work is that my laptop has a USB-C 3.2 Gen1 (5 Gbps) port which should support video output using DP Alt. mode.
