Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I recently acquired a HP Pavilion dv7 4263cl laptop with Windows 7.  I removed the HD, installed a SSD, and installed a fresh copy of Windows 10 pro from the MS website.

The laptop seems to run OK, but in Device Manager it says "no drivers installed" for two display devices....AMD Radeon HP 6300m Series and ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200 Series.  I have searched all over and cannot find drivers for these devices beyond the Windows 7 version.  I tried downloading them and they would not install...saying no compatible device found.  I suspect there are no compatible drivers, but curious if anyone has found a workaround for this issue.   Don't know if related or not, but the keyboard keys to control brightness do not work either....appears to be on full brightness.   Any help appreciated.  Thanks.

Hi:

Unfortunately, the notebooks with switchable graphics won't work on W10.

AMD did not develop any W10 drivers for that configuration.

You can't adjust the brightness with the keyboard Fn keys unless the proper graphics drivers are installed.

I recommend you reinstall W7, and the notebook should run fine.

I realize W7 is out of support, but Microsoft Security Essentials still works as an antivirus program.

Thank you, Paul.  I was afraid of that, but was hoping for a workaround.  It does seem to  run OK with Windows 10, except for the screen brightness control, so I guess I will leave as is.  Thanks for the info.
