I have received an elitebook 850 G5 from a company I am subcontracting for. I already have an HP thunderbolt G2 docking station that I connect via the thunderbolt port. The laptop is charging, I can use the USB peripherals BUT I cannot get my external display to work.
The 34" LG display is connected to the dock via displayport cable. The laptop recognizes the display name but it says "Display isn't active" The display DOES work and is active on the correct displayport. I have multiple laptops (non HP) that all work with this docking station. But he HP laptop doesn't work with the HP dock...
The company I'm working for has locked the bios so I cannot access that. I can see the bios is 01.06.00. I have checked the dock G2 product sheet and the video and thunderbolt drivers have the correct software version (or higher).
Any idea what can cause this?

Thunderbolt secure connect software was installed and I see no connected devices???
I have local admin rights so I can update drivers as seen fit. (Apart from bios updates)
I ran the image assistant and I can see that thunderbolt mode is turned off in the BIOS. Why would they do that???

Hello
download hp bios config utility from here:
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/caps-softpaq/cmit/HP_BCU.html
install the software in your computer
open a CMD prompt windows as asministrator
go in folder "C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\BIOS Configuration Utility" , then execute
biosconfigutility /get:lobo_850G5bcu.txt
using notebook, open file lobo_850G5bcu.txt file
delete the serial numer of your computer
delete UUID of your computer
save file
then
or just post all BIUOS setting from file lob0_850G5bcu.txt
I will check which are the changes you have to do in the BIOS settings in order to have TB dock working
bye
