Hi @Ameshwal,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If the F3, F4, and F8 keys are not working on your HP laptop, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue.
Check the Function Key Lock (F-Lock):
- Press the Fn key and then the F-Lock key (if available). This key may toggle the function keys between standard and special modes.
Check Keyboard Settings:
- Go to Control Panel > Ease of Access > Ease of Access Center > Make the keyboard easier to use. Ensure that Filter Keys is not turned on.
Update or Reinstall Keyboard Drivers:
- Open Device Manager by pressing Windows Key + X and selecting Device Manager.
- Find and expand Keyboards.
- Right-click on your keyboard device and select Update driver.
- If updating doesn't work, you can try uninstalling the driver and then restarting your laptop to let Windows reinstall the driver automatically.
Check for System Updates:
- Make sure your Windows operating system is up-to-date. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates.
Try an External Keyboard:
- Connect an external keyboard to see if the function keys work. This can help determine if the issue is with the laptop’s built-in keyboard.
BIOS/UEFI Settings:
- Sometimes, function keys can be disabled or remapped in the BIOS/UEFI settings. Restart your laptop and enter BIOS/UEFI by pressing the appropriate key (usually Esc, F2, or Del during startup). Check the keyboard settings to ensure that the function keys are enabled.
Perform a Hard Reset:
- Turn off your laptop.
- Disconnect any external devices and power cables.
- Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds to drain any residual power.
- Reconnect the power cable and turn on your laptop.
Check for Physical Issues:
- Ensure that there is no debris or physical obstruction under the keys that could be causing them not to work.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
