Hi @Nata98,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Experiencing performance issues in a game after a power outage could indicate several potential issues. Here's a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the problem.

  • Restart Your Laptop: Sometimes a simple restart can resolve temporary software glitches.
  • Check for Updates: Ensure that both your operating system (Windows) and the game itself are up to date. Developers often release patches and updates to improve performance and fix bugs.
  • Update Graphics Drivers: Outdated or corrupt graphics drivers can cause performance issues. Visit the website of your graphics card manufacturer (NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel) and download the latest drivers for your specific GPU model.
  • Check Power Settings: Make sure your laptop is set to high-performance mode while gaming. You can adjust power settings in the Control Panel or through the Windows settings.
  • Check for Overheating: A sudden power outage could potentially cause overheating issues. Download a temperature monitoring tool like HWMonitor or SpeedFan to check if your laptop is running too hot during gaming. If temperatures are too high, consider cleaning the laptop's cooling system or using a laptop cooling pad.
  • Scan for Malware: Malware or viruses could be running in the background, consuming system resources and causing performance issues. Perform a full system scan using a reliable antivirus program to detect and remove any malicious software.
  • Close Background Applications: Close any unnecessary programs running in the background, as they can consume CPU and memory resources. This includes browser tabs, chat applications, and other non-essential software.
  • Adjust In-Game Settings: Lower the graphics settings in the game to reduce the strain on your system. You can try lowering the resolution, turning down texture quality, disabling shadows, and reducing the level of detail.
  • Check Disk Usage: A sudden power outage could potentially corrupt game files or the Windows system files. Run a disk check to ensure there are no errors on your hard drive. You can do this by right-clicking on your hard drive in File Explorer, selecting Properties, then Tools, and clicking on "Check" under Error checking.
  • Reinstall the Game: If the issue persists, try uninstalling and reinstalling the game. This will ensure that all game files are intact and not corrupted.
  • Consider Hardware Damage: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it's possible that the power outage caused hardware damage to your laptop.

By following these steps, you should be able to identify and resolve the performance issues you're experiencing while playing the game on your HP Pavilion gaming laptop.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
