@john312,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I reviewed your post and I understand that you want to enable Optimus on the computer and you are also facing issues with the display.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

I recommend you update the graphics driver from the below link and check whether the display issue is resolved.

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp98001-98500/sp98269.exe

By default, the “Use the advanced 3D image settings” option is selected. You can select Manage 3D settings and change advanced settings for all programs on your computer or just for specific games. NVIDIA keeps a database of the optimal settings for various games, but you’re free to tweak individual settings here. Just mouse-over an option for an explanation of what it does.

If you have a laptop with NVIDIA Optimus technology — that is, both NVIDIA and Intel graphics — this is the same place you can choose which applications will use the NVIDIA hardware and which will use the Intel hardware.

  1. Right Click on your desktop.
  2. Click NVIDIA Control Panel.
  3. Click Manage 3D Settings on the left menu.
  4. Click on the Select a program to customize drop down menu under the Program Settings tab.
  5. Choose your game or application from the list. ...
  6. Click on the Select the preferred graphics processor for this program drop down menu.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

@john312,

Thanks for replying!

As per the product specifications document https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/omen-by-hp-17-cb0000-laptop-pc/26122176/model/29377812/document... the product is not shipped with the graphics card. If you have additionally installed a graphics card, provide the details of the same for further assistance.

For the backlight issue, I would recommend you roll back the BIOS. Follow the steps below-

Press the Windows key and then followed by the key "B" this time and then the power button for around 3-4 seconds, then release the power button and continue to hold windows+B for 3-4 seconds more.

Hope this helps!

Keep me posted for further assistance.

Please click “Accept as Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution. Click the “Kudos/Thumbs Up" on the bottom right to say “Thanks” for helping!
