Hi @spectreagh,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Do not worry, I'd be happy to help you!
I understand that you are facing issues with sleep mode and not opening in tablet mode.
By default, when you wake up an HP Spectre x360, it usually opens in the mode it was last used. However, you can set the default startup mode to tablet mode in the system settings:
Tablet Mode Settings: Go to your laptop's settings. In Windows 10 or 11, you can access this by clicking on the Start menu and selecting the gear-shaped icon for Settings.
System Settings: Inside Settings, look for "System" or a similar option, and click on it.
Tablet Mode Configuration: In the System settings, you should find an option labeled "Tablet Mode" or "When I sign in" (the exact wording might vary). Click on this option.
Choose Tablet Mode: You'll see settings related to how your device behaves when in tablet mode or when you sign in. Look for an option that says something like "When this device automatically switches tablet mode on or off" or "When I sign in, go to Tablet Mode."
Select Tablet Mode: Set this option to "Always" or choose the preferred behavior that switches your device directly to tablet mode when waking up.
These steps should help you configure your HP Spectre x360 to default to tablet mode upon waking up. Remember, the specific wording and steps might differ slightly based on the version of Windows or any updates installed on your laptop.

I am an HP Employee

Hi. I experience the same issue as stated above. Because it was not understood at all by hp employee, I will try to re-formulate the problem.
Assume you have an hp Spectre running and it is running on battery.
Assume sleep timeout is set to n minutes in Windows.
Flip it into tablet mode. Keyboard gets disabled (what is correct, otherwise a ton of nonsense, wrong keypresses would be fired as you manipulate the "Spetrablet").
Leave the "tablet" alone for n+1 minutes. It will fall asleep.
Now, the question is, how do we wake up the tablet?? Touch screen does nothing when in sleep. Keyboard and touchpad is properly disabled in tablet mode. Any ideas?
So far, the only solution is to flip the sleeping tablet back to normal, notebook regime, press a key to wake the notebook up and then flip it back to tablet mode. What is extremely annoying. And it puts truly unnecessary load on the aluminium-paper-feeling, thin case and the hinge.
Hopefully, the problem will be clearer this way.
Kind regards!

Hi there, recently I had to do system recovery on my hp specter 2in1 and now somehow if I tap twice on a sleeping spectre screen in tablet mode it will wake up 😄 … try it, not sure if recovery helped or what has happened but it works now 🙂
