hp gaming 15-dk0012nl
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, everyone.

Yesterday, i've purchased my brand new laptop hp gaming 15-dk0012nl from hp store.

It's arrived and it's very fast! But there is a problem: the monitor uses 6 bit only.

In the description, it's shows that this model is 100% RGB (72% NTSC) and this assumes that the monitor has 8bit per channel.

It's a typo in the description or it's a sort of defect of my own model?

I tried different drivers:

-  6912

- 6999 (out of the box driver)

- 7755

- 7584

- 7755 (the latest)

None of them can run 8 bit per channel. If I disinstall the original driver, I have 8bit per channel but not vertical sync.

Anyone can help me?

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.

After reading your post, I did go through the Product specifications of your product and found that this computer shipped with 39.6 cm (15.6") diagonal FHD IPS anti-glare WLED-backlit (1920 x 1080) With the resolution of 1920 x 1080, the Bit depth will be 6, However, when the display is connected to an external monitor the Bit depth will be 8 due to higher display resolution.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

This is not true at all and this is not acceptable. 6bit per channel means 260.000 colors and maybe, only the firsts modern notebook in the '90 , have this kind of monitor.

This notebook is 100% RGB and this is not possibile if It has only 6bit per channel, 45% NTSC neither.

I'm a HP customer for over 15 year and right now, in my family, there are

- 1 HP Pavilion DV6 serie - i7, paid around 1100€ in 2009 and It has 8bit per channel. (My father's PC)

- 1 cheap HP 15-ay000nl with Intel celeron and 399€ in 2018, has 8bit per channel (my mother's PC)

- 1 HP envy 17, 1200€ in 2015, It has 8bit per channel (my current notebook).

-  Also, my first notebook Acer travelmate, paid 1200€ in 2007, has 8bit per channel.

For this kind of non-support, because I have readed that this situation persists for over a year, I have no choice to return the notebook and get my money back.
