I have my HP laptop connected to the J5Create docking station. I will only let me connect one monitor at a time. It doesn't matter if it is the HDMI cord, or display connector, if I want 2 monitors I have to connect one directly to my laptop.
The other posts gave no help. One reply said to use a display cord, but this doesn't work.

Hi @deseojon,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Laptop PC 15-Dy2000 connected to a j5create docking station only recognizes one external monitor, there are a few possible reasons and troubleshooting steps you can try.
- Compatibility: Ensure that your laptop and docking station are compatible with multiple monitors. Check the specifications of both devices to confirm if they support multiple displays.
- Docking Station Ports: Verify that your docking station has multiple video output ports, such as HDMI, DisplayPort, or VGA. Connect the external monitors to different ports on the docking station to rule out any issues with a specific port.
- Cable Connection: Confirm that the cables connecting the external monitors to the docking station are securely plugged in. Sometimes, a loose cable connection can prevent proper recognition of multiple displays.
- Display Settings: Open the display settings on your laptop and check if it recognizes the second monitor. In Windows, right-click on the desktop, select "Display settings," and ensure that both monitors are detected. Adjust the screen resolution, orientation, and positioning as needed.
- Graphics Driver: Make sure you have the latest graphics driver installed on your laptop. Outdated or incompatible graphics drivers can cause issues with multiple monitor support. Visit the HP support website or the manufacturer's website for your graphics card to download and install the latest driver.
- Update Docking Station Firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your j5create docking station. Visit the j5create website and search for your docking station's model to find firmware updates, if available. Updating the firmware can sometimes resolve compatibility issues.
- Test with a Different Docking Station: If possible, try connecting your laptop to a different docking station to determine if the issue lies with the current docking station. If the laptop recognizes multiple monitors with another docking station, it could indicate a problem with the j5create docking station.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
