Hi @mike8748,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

If your HP PC’s internal display flickers every few minutes, it could be caused by a range of issues, from software glitches to hardware faults. Let’s walk through a structured troubleshooting approach to help you narrow it down and fix it.

1. Update Graphics Drivers

Outdated or corrupted drivers are a common cause.

  • Open Device Manager (press Win + X > Device Manager).
  • Expand Display adapters.
  • Right-click your GPU (Intel/AMD/NVIDIA) > Update driver.
  • Choose Search automatically for drivers.

2. Check for Windows Updates

  • Go to Settings > Windows Update.
  • Install all pending updates, especially optional driver updates.

3. Disable Hardware Acceleration

Some apps (like Chrome, Edge, or Office) can cause flickering.

  • In Chrome: Go to Settings > System > Turn off Use hardware acceleration when available.
  • In Windows: Go to Settings > System > Display > Graphics Settings > Turn off Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling.

4. Boot in Safe Mode

This helps determine if the issue is software-related.

  • Press Win + R, type msconfig, go to the Boot tab, check Safe boot, and restart.
  • If flickering stops in Safe Mode, it’s likely a driver or app issue.

5. Check Display Cable & Connector (if applicable)

If it’s a convertible or detachable model, gently reseat the display connection or check for flex cable issues.

6. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

  • Restart your PC and press Esc > F2 to enter HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
  • Run the Display Test and System Test.
